Shiftleader Rafel

Shiftleader at Rafel (opening soon)

Objective

As a Shiftleader at Rafel, you provide operational leadership to the team during your shift in the restaurant, at the bar, on the terrace, and during events. You ensure that tasks are properly divided, maintain an overview of the floor, and safeguard a welcoming, efficient, and safe service.  You actively participate in daily operations and are the first point of contact for colleagues and guests. You respond quickly to busy periods, changes, or complaints and coordinate important matters with the Restaurant Manager. Together with the team, you create a personal guest experience and ensure every shift runs smoothly.

Daily tasks

Before the shift begins, you review reservations, staffing levels, events, and other relevant details. You deliver a short briefing, assign workstations and tasks, and ensure that the restaurant, bar, terrace, or event space is ready on time.

During service, you lead the team, monitor progress, and adjust operations to maintain quality, speed, and hospitality. You support colleagues where needed, ensure clear communication between the bar, waiting staff, and kitchen, and adapt the team’s deployment when required.

You actively work alongside the team in the restaurant and behind the bar, welcome and advise guests, and handle questions or complaints professionally. You lead by example and ensure that procedures, agreements, and hygiene and safety guidelines are followed.

During events, you coordinate the operational preparation, guest reception and execution. You make sure the team understands what is expected and maintain contact with the colleagues and organisers involved.

Opening, Closing & Handover

Depending on your shift, you open or close the venue. You check stock levels, cleanliness, tills, and any relevant details, complete the shift carefully, and provide a clear handover to the Restaurant Manager or the next shift.

Teamwork and collaboration

You support new and less experienced colleagues, provide clear instructions and constructive feedback, and encourage positive teamwork. You identify operational issues or development needs and discuss them with the Restaurant Manager.
